As president the nonprofit Organization that supports activities for the blind,New England Regional Ski for Light I have learned first hand how wonderful the work of Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country is in creating opportunities for blind Individuals goals of hiking, tandem biking, rock climbing and kayaking. These opportunities, support success, engagement and healthy fitness, and change lives in doing so.
This will be my sixth year of doing the Sunrise Ascent. It is such an amazing challenge for me and when I touch the signpost on the top, I've made it! Every year, I walk up, it gets more beautiful watching the sunrise as it get higher and higher. When I reach the top, another incredible day appears.
Outdoor active many years by participating as a Nordic skier, snowshoe, trail runner, and single scull rower. Hiking has been a focus for 30 or 50 years. Working time was spent teaching and as neuro rehabilitation trainer.
I look forward to this challenge to push my self and work towards this big goal. All while helping to raise funds to help other adaptive people find ways they can be an athlete too and get out and try new things. Learning that I can do more then what people think someone with a disability can pushes me to keep pushing and moving . . . bettering myself in the long run.
